PNWU Osteopathic Scholarship

Zirkle Fruit Company's Osteopathic Scholarship Winner Announced.

The 2009-2010 Zirkle Fruit Company Osteopathic Scholarship winner is Jaime Leigh Klippert. The award was presented to Jaime at Zirkle Fruit Company on Thursday July 16, 2009 at 10:30am.

Jaime graduated from Pasco High School in 2004 before attending Washington State University. She graduated Cum Laude from Washington State University in 2007 with a major in Basic Medical Sciences and a minor in Spanish. Jaime is currently completing her first year of study at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) in Yakima, Washington and is on track to graduate in 2012.

After graduation from PNWU, Jaime plans to become a primary care physician in an underserved rural community in Eastern Washington. Jaime has spent time working at a public hospital in Guatemala, as well as doing mission work in Colombia, and has personally witnessed the effects that having to wait on healthcare has on a person and a community. Having spent time at health clinics in Pasco, Jaime noticed the same situation exists in eastern Washington. She wants to help fill the void of primary care physicians that exists in this part of the state.

Jaime's decision to enter the medical profession is driven by her desire to strengthen her community. She believes when community members are healthy and more informed, they will be able to give more of themselves to their families, to their community and to their work. Jaime lives Zirkle Fruit Company's philosophy of "strengthening communities by producing excellence."

The Zirkle Fruit Osteopathic Scholarship was created to assist students who are committed to providing medical services to rural communities in the Pacific Northwest, but are challenged financially to complete the four-year program at PNWU.

Zirkle Fruit Company is located at 352 Harrison Road in Selah.
